Ewell W. Smithson, 97, of Littleville, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville.

Mr. Smithson was born on Feb. 4, 1915, to Oce Eugene Smithson and Clara Notgrass Smithson in West Point, Tenn. He was a lifelong resident of Littleville and a member of the First Baptist Church of Littleville.  He retired as an electrician with TVA after 41 years of service.

He was a WWII Navy veteran and was a past commander of the American Legion, a Mason and a member of the Littleville Lions Club.

Funeral services were Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, with Rev. Billy Thorn officiating. Interment was in Colbert Memorial Gardens.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Margaret James Smithson.

He is survived by his wife, Una White Smithson; one son, James Smithson and wife, Pat, of Decatur; sister, Annette Smithson Whitlock of Muscle Shoals; two grandchildren, Virginia Eden and husband, Jason, of Atlanta, Ga., Charles Richard Smithson and wife, Jessica, of Charleston, S. C.; three great-grandchildren, Jack, Bates and Oliver Eden; three stepsons, Craig Kelley and wife, Vicki, of Rogersville; Ken Kelley and wife, Jaime, of Florence, Mike Kelley of Muscle Shoals; four step-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
