Phil Campbell, Red Bay split double header

The Phil Campbell Bobcats and Red Bay Tigers squared off in a double header last week with both teams coming away with wins. Phil Campbell won game one 8-4 while Red Bay made a late run to win game two 7-4.

In game one, Phil Campbell opened up an 8-0 lead after three innings and held off the Red Bay Tigers to get the win.  Red Bay scored a run in the fourth and three in the fifth to close the gap, but Phil Campbell held on for the win.

Senior pitcher Eli Taylor went the distance for the Bobcats, allowing just two earned runs on nine hits and four strikeouts.

Cody Quinn had two hits, two RBI and scored a run. Freshman Chandler Benford also scored two runs.

For Red Bay, Jeramiah Thorne had three hits and a RBI.

In game two, Red Bay scored four runs in an error-filled seventh inning to overtake Phil Campbell and win 7-4.

Ty Reynolds got the complete game win, allowing just one earned run on five hits while striking out 11 batters.

Carson McGee had a single and double and three RBI.

For the Bobcats, Chandler Benford singled and doubled and scored twice. Cale Faust doubled in a run and scored.
