County woman killed in car wreck

SPRUCE PINE – A Franklin County woman was killed Tuesday afternoon in a two-car wreck on Alabama 13.

Authorities said Sabrina Green, 33, 2801 Franklin 20, Spruce Pine, died as a result of injuries she sustained in the accident.

Officials confirmed Green’s 1992 Honda Accord collided with a 1992 Ford F-250 truck driven by 25-year-old Thomas Boyles from Phil Campbell.

Authorities said the wreck occurred at 12:38 p.m. when Green was apparently attempting to cross Alabama 13 from Franklin 20.

Her car was struck in the passenger’s side door by Boyles’ truck, which was travelling south on Alabama 13. Boyles was not injured.

Authorities said the impact of the collision caused the passenger side door to be pushed across the car into the driver’s side door.

Green was transported from the scene of the accident to Russellville Hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Friends of the family said Green has elementary-age sons who attend Phil Campbell Elementary School.

She is described as being a loving mother who would do anything for her family.

The Quad-Cities State Troopers Post is investigating the accident.

She is survived by her husband, Waylon Pounders; children, Kayla Marie Green, Dalton Brady Cornelius, Tyler Joe Cornelius; parents, Melvin and Ruby Green; siblings, Patricia Nix, Melvin Green, Jr., Jennifer Green; father of her children, Billy Cornelius; and several nieces and nephews.
