Lady Bobcats too much for Lady Red Devils

The Phil Campbell Lady Bobcats varsity basketball team defeated the Vina Lady Red Devils 62-24 Tuesday night in the Franklin County Tournament at Northwest Shoals.

Phil Campbell jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter. The Lady Bobcats had extended their lead to 32-10 by halftime.

“We played well tonight,” Phil Campbell head coach Darit Riddle said. “It’s good that we could get the win and get a rematch with Red Bay.”

Phil Campbell held off Vina’s offense all night, coming out with the big win.

“We want another shot at [Red Bay],” Riddle said. “After the other night we know we can hang with them.”

Hope Cook and Ciara Harville led the Lady Bobcats in scoring with 14 points each. Madison Hardy had 9 points and Autumn Thomas totaled 7. Also scoring for Phil Campbell were Ashley Baker (4), Korina Jimenez (4), Whitley Yocom (4), Sarah Hilliard (3), Tori Pace (2) and Leanell Hill (1).

Jessica Pickle led Vina in points with 9. Andrea Parrish had 8 points and Miranda Howard had 4. Alex Miller and Courtney Watson had 2 points each, and Beth Spencer added 1.
