The body of a 19-year-old Meridian woman was discovered lying in heavy traffic early Sunday in Richmond, Va.
Investigators with the Virginia State Police said they are looking for clues to what might have happened to Donna Peden, whose body was found lying among 10 lanes of traffic.
Police said Peden had recently moved from Meridian to make her home in Atlanta and was traveling to Pennsylvania to visit relatives there.
Investigators with the Meridian Police Department, notified Sunday afternoon, were faced with telling family members about the woman's unexplained death.
The Virginia State Police have classified her death "suspicious."
Peden's body was discovered about 5:30 a.m. on Interstate 95, about 20 miles south of Washington, police spokesman Lucy Caldwell said.
Caldwell said early morning motorists notified police of the body.
Caldwell said investigators could make the results of Peden's autopsy available as early as today.
