The Alabama 4-H program is celebrating its centennial anniversary this year and local officials want county residents to take part in celebrating the organization's past.
After all, the 4-H founder was a Franklin County native.
Dr. Luther Noble Duncan, a county native and former Auburn University president, was instrumental in founding the organization in Alabama.
In fact, the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service's main office is in Duncan Hall on Auburn's campus. Duncan Hall is located on Duncan Drive.
Franklin County Extension Agent Katernia Cole will be coordinating a celebration in March to honor the program.
Cole said there will be a celebration announced later to honor all the former 4-H students and agents as well as remember the Father of 4-H.
We urge all former 4-H members to participate.
