Time to get cleaning

Spring has finally come and we are celebrating Easer today.
What a great way to begin the new season. The beginning of Spring takes me back to a time when we were in grade school.
Concentrating in class was very hard when the butterflies and birds made themselves present outside the large classroom windows.
This was before the days of air conditioning and no screens were on the windows.
Occassionally, a bird would fly into the classroom and give us a good laugh or a few minutes away from the books while the teacher tried to get it out.
All we could think of were warm breezes, going barefoot or staying up past bedtime to play with our cousins in the backyard.
When time arrived to be a housekeeper, thoughts of Spring bring on other activities or projects. When a homemaker thinks of Spring you think of cleaning, airing out or hanging washed sheets on the line.
This year my first Spring project will be spring-cleaning my kitchen. It needs it badly and it's long overdue.
The first job that needs to be tackled is getting rid of dishes that we no longer use. First, I will empty a certain section of our cabinets then pack the dishes we don't use anymore in boxes.
The shelves will be wiped with Clorox wipes or a little Lysol in a large amount of water and allowed to dry before adding new shelf liner.
When we move to the food cabinets we must be sure all flour, cereal, sugar and meal are stored in sealed containers or zip lock bags.
Clean cabinets well and place new liner on the shelves.
Get rid of items that are no longer fresh by the date on packaging.
This year our stove is going to really get a cleaning. I'm pulling out all our pans from the cabinet under the stove and add new lining. Then we will remove all old pots or pans.
Our refrigerator is next.
What would we do without them? Make sure all old food is discarded as you work then give it a thorough washing. When I was first married, my husband would put little notes on stale food in our refrigerator that said, "I'm old, please throw me out."
It's good to have a reminder.
Then it's on to the cabinets, walls and floors.
Hope you have someone to help you.
Happy cleaning.
