Four-Ball Tourney action

An annual Meridian golf staple got rolling at Northwood Country Club with the Spring Four-Ball Tournament.
And not surprisingly, the leaderboard after Day One was a Who's Who of area golfers.
In fact, a three-way tie at 64 should make for an exciting finish today.
The teams of Judge Little and Scott Morgan, Dan Angero and Bilbo Mitchell, and Joey Mabry and Tony Polizzi all fired first-round 64s to claim the three-way tie for the lead in Saturday's beautiful weather.
Angero, who ironically teamed with Little to win the State Four-Ball Tournament at Canebrake last week, will have to go against his teammate, as well as Mabry and Polizzi.
The assistant district attorney, who teamed with Meridian D.A. Bilbo Mitchell said he was surprised that a morning-round of 64 would hold up in afternoon play.
The pair shot three-under par on the front nine and was in good shape as they made the turn.
Angero, who was a last minute entrant into the tournament said he was surprised at the prowess of his partner.
Mabry also spoke very highly of his partner's short game.
Neither Little nor Morgan could be reached for comment Saturday night.
Teams will be put into flights today and the top three flights will tee off at 1 p.m. All other flights will start at 8 a.m. In the past, the Spring Four-Ball has boasted some 95 teams, but this year, the number was reduced in an effort to speed up play.
