Addison drops Bobcats 49-16

ADDISON – The sixth-ranked Addison Bulldogs grounded out 380 yards to defeat Phil Campbell 49-16 Friday night.
Addison (6-1, 5-0) held the Bobcats to zero net rushing yards, which forced Phil Campbell to pass 40 times.
The Bulldogs struck late in the first quarter with two scores. Jason Fowler ran in from the 3-yard line, and Andrew Privett bounced loose for a 50-yard score to put Addison ahead 14-0.
Privett found the end zone twice in the second quarter with runs of 25 and 32 yards.
Phil Campbell responded with 12 seconds left until halftime when senior quarterback Jonathan Dill scored from the 1-yard line and found Caleb Thompson for a 2-point conversion to cut Addison's lead to 28-8.
But Jordan Rivers managed to find Colton Alston for a 21-yard touchdown with no time left on the clock to put the Bulldogs ahead 35-8 at halftime.
Addison added two more rushing scores in the third quarter from Fowler and Jeremy Thompson to lead 49-8 at the end of the third quarter.
With 8:21 remaining in the game, Dill fired a 5-yard pass to Thompson and found Thompson again for the 2-point conversion for the 49-16 final score.
Thompson's touchdown reception was his sixth grab of the game and seventh touchdown this season. Senior tailback Stephen Lacey added four catches for 33 yards and five tackles.
Seth Brown and Dakota Demastus each recovered fumbles for Phil Campbell. Brown also had a team-leading 13 total tackles, including one for a loss.
Dill finished 15-of-40 for 166 yards and no interceptions, and added eight tackles on defense.
Phil Campbell (0-7, 0-5) will play Hatton at home next Friday in both teams' final Class 2A, Region 8 matchup this season.
