Mr. and Mrs. Charles Flynn of Tupelo announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachael Amie, to Howell Paul Hopper Jr. of Ocean Springs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Mitchell Howell Sr. of Ocean Springs and Paul Hopper Sr. of Moss Point.
The wedding will be Oct. 18, 2003, at 2:30 p.m. at La Belle Mansion in Biloxi.
Miss Flynn is the granddaughter of Vaudene Vann of Amory and the late James Vann, and the late Mr. and Mrs. E.B. Flynn of Shannon.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Tupelo High School and received a bachelor's and master's degree in elementary education from Mississippi State University.
She received a Ph.D. degree in curriculum and instruction reading from the University of Southern Mississippi.
She is employed as assistant professor of literacy at Belmont University in Nashville.
Mr. Hopper is the grandson of Nell B. Watts of Ocean Springs, Louisa B. Williams of Hattiesburg and the late M.C. Williams, Ann Hopper of Grand Bay, Ala., and the late Julius H. "Buddy" Hopper.
The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Pascagoula High School and received a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Mississippi State University. She earned a master's of business administration from Belmont College in Nashville.
He is employed by Holley Performance Products in Bowling Green, Ky.
