Rains back up culvert in Vimville

By By Sheila Blackmon/The Meridian Star
A Lauderdale County road crew is expected to begin work soon to clear a box culvert on Shiloh-Vimville Road. The culvert is blocked and this week's heavy rains are causing drainage problems.
County Engineer Neal Carson is expected to ask the supervisors to approve site work at their Monday meeting.
Carson said a crew will clear the ditch with one of the county's machine excavators.
He said the adjoining property owners will need to give permission for workers to leave the county right-of-way and enter their property, and eminent domain proceedings are unlikely.
He said the work should begin the week after Thanksgiving. It is not expected to slow traffic because the crews will be working beyond the right-of-way, which extends about 30 feet on either side of the road.
Carson said county road crews will probably be doing this kind of work through the end of spring.
