Former Lauderdale County Superintendent dies

Tommy Smith Gunn, superintendent for the Lauderdale County School district from 1984-1986, died Wednesday in Meridian.
In addition to serving as superintendent, he also was an assistant superintendent of Lauderdale County Schools in 1973 as well as principal at Northeast Lauderdale High School in 1961.
Roberson also said Gunn accomplished one of the most significant bond issues in years in Lauderdale County to remodel and update many of the school district's buildings.
Gunn's funeral will be Saturday at Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
