Health Connect America raises money for foster care
Russellville Health Connect of America raised awareness of child abuse May 6 with a fun fair, while also raising funds to support local foster children.
The total $665 raised will go to the Franklin County DHR Foster Care Program, to aid with any expenses for supplies and clothing.
“For Child Abuse Awareness Month, we couldn’t think of a better place to give it to,” said Health Connect of America Director of Operations Mary Stumpe. “There is always a need.”
The Child Abuse Awareness Fun Fair took place in front of Health Connect America of Russellville and included face painting, games for all ages and a bake sale, with items donated from local bakeries.
While at the fun fair, visitors were also to learn about the different programs Health Connect America offers, such as dealing with substance abuse or providing foster care services.
Stumpe said Health Connect America hosts similar events often throughout the state, but the one in Russellville was the first one of the month to focus on child abuse awareness.
