Approximately 75 children participate in the Phil Campbell Easter egg hunt in 2019, tracking down 1,000 eggs in barely more than a minute.

PC reschedules Easter egg hunt

With a possibility of storms Saturday, the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce decided to cancel the county’s three Easter egg hunts.

The annual egg hunts were scheduled to be held in Russellville, Red Bay and Phil Campbell.

“I guess we shouldn’t be surprised because this year has taught us things rarely go as planned,” said Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Director Cassie Medley.

The Phil Campbell hunt was the only one to be rescheduled, now set for noon April 3 at Phil Campbell Memorial Park. Participants should bring their own baskets.

Despite the event cancellations, the Chamber is still hosting giveaways for Easter baskets and a bicycles on its Facebook page.

To enter, people should “like” the chamber’s Facebook post about the giveaway on its page and then comment on the post noting their child’s favorite Easter candy.

According to the Chamber, winners must be Franklin County residents fifth grade or younger, and the child must be present with the parent at time of pick-up for a photo.

Deadline to enter is March 31, and winners will be announced April 1 at noon.
