Vina plans for 2019 July Fest

Every town has its traditions locals mark on their calendars and prepare for each year. For Vina, one of
those events is July Fest.
This year, the Town of Vina will celebrate its 29th July Fest Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Vina
Fire Department. All proceeds will benefit the Vina Fire Department and Vina Rescue Squad by going
toward the purchase of equipment that must be updated yearly.
Vina Rescue Squad secretary and event coordinator Denise Rogers said the event is a community
favorite and usually draws approximately 1,500 attendees throughout the day.
Some of the top events of the day include the car show, fireworks and the Draw Down, where one
person will win $17,000.
Tickets for the Draw Down are still available for purchase for $100 at Town Hall. Rogers said vendor
spots are also available, but all food vendor spots have been filled.
Rogers said she looks forward to having a great turnout at the event since the weather is expected to be
sunny in the mid-80s with a low chance of rain.
The festival will begin with one of the main attractions: the car show, where trophies will be given for best
engine, best paint, best interior and people’s choice. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and last until noon
with a $20 registration fee.
The car show will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 1 p.m. with the presentation of trophies, and the
Draw Down will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Music will start at noon and conclude at 9 p.m. with this year’s headliner, Yellowhammer, taking the
stage at 7 p.m.
The night will end with a bang, with a fireworks show beginning at 9 p.m.
“We put a lot of work into the fireworks show, so it’s always great to have a big turnout,” Rogers said.
There will be plenty of games and activities for children of all ages, as well as a bouncy house and water
slide.
There will be no shortage of food options for attendees. Vina First Baptist Church is hosting a bean
dinner, where guests can eat beans and cornbread. Mr. Jackson will have his food trailer, and guests will
have access to favorites such as lemonade and funnel cakes.
Rogers said she has been planning for this event since January and has already started planning for the
30th July Fest.
“We just want to invite everyone to come out, sit around, visit and enjoy the music,” Rogers said.
