In response to recent NRA endorsements
Dear editor,
Everyone in our community knows that I have been a hunter all my life. I have a lifetime hunting license. I am a long-time member of the NRA. My father, who passed in 1997, was a member of the NRA before me. We didn’t join for any political gain.
Obviously, with Representative Morrow, who had a higher rating with the NRA than his opponent and was still passed over for their endorsement and financial support, this really has nothing to do with who stands up for gun owner rights. It has more to do with who these large groups control – and it is plain to see they are not loyal to their supporters.
So the issue before the voters is who best represents the values you hold dear. I am proud of the support that I have received from groups like the AFL-CIO, the Plumbers and Steamfitters local 760, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local 558, the Iron Workers local 477, the Shoals Area Central Labor Council and The Alabama Democratic Conference.
Some groups chose to support both candidates, like the Alabama Voice of Teachers and The Alabama Optometric Political Action Committee.
So when you are comparing who supports whom, I am extremely proud to have the support of hard working local folks over the big special interests.
Sincerely,
Eddie Britton
