Russellville Reads: Library prepares for community programs

The library is excited to host retired educator and local author Dianne Pace as part of our Third Thursday adult programming series this week. She will be reading and discussing her newly-published book, “I Love You, a Bushel and a Peck.” She will also be signing and have several of her books available for sale at a special price of $13.

Lynn Winter from Haleyville will be helping us premiere our non-traditional item collection Sept. 25. She made a generous donation of cake pans that will be available for checkout later this fall. She is teaching a cake decorating class, and we couldn’t be more excited!

The response to the class was overwhelming, and all spots are filled. However, we are looking into hosting more classes in the future, so check our social media frequently for updates.

Taylor Reeder from the Alabama Cooperative Extension Office will be teaching a gal gardening series the month of October. She always does an amazing job, and we would love to see you there. Classes start Oct. 17 at 10:30 a.m.

Oct. 6 the library is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with displays provided by the Franklin County Extension office, games, guest speakers and traditional samplings.

The library is currently accepting volunteer applications. If you have community service hours to fulfill for National Honor Society or Junior Leadership, or even if you just like to help out, we would love to hear from you.

Check us out on our new website www.russellvillepubliclibrary.com and on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat for up-to-date information.
