Sara Jo Hammock

Sara Jo Hammock, age 91, Spruce Pine, passed away Oct. 2 at Terrace Manor Nursing Home.

Mrs. Hammock was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for over 70 years.

The visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 5 at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church with the funeral following at 2 p.m. at the church. Officiating will be Bro. Jerome Sherrill and Dr. Scott Delashaw. Burial will be at Franklin Memory Gardens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thelton Hammock; son, Gerald Welborn; parents, Maxie P. McDowell and Lucy Mae Pilgrim McDowell; and brothers, William L. McDowell, James A. McDowell and Roy G. McDowell.

She leaves to cherish her memory her brothers, Robert P. McDowell and wife Louise and Thomas W. McDowell and wife Doris; a large number of nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

The pallbearers will be Allen McDowell, Brian Welch, Lonnie Stancil and David McDowell.
