Andy Deaton has lived in Red Bay all his life, and now he wants to be a part of city leadership. He is running for Red Bay City Council.

Deaton has been a member of the Red Bay Fire Department for almost 20 years. “I just love helping people, and I think this is another way I can continue to be helping people,” Deaton said. Running for city council is something he has “always wanted to do.” “I just thought now is as good a time as any.”

Deaton has a vision in mind for the City of Red Bay.

“I would just like to see the city grow. I would like to see new businesses come in,” he said. “There’s always room for more growth. There are a lot of businesses in Red Bay, but there has been a lot of businesses that have left, too. That’s the way it is everywhere.”

As a lifelong Red Bay resident, “I know everybody in the town, and everybody knows me,” he said. That’s one reason Deaton thinks he’s perfect for the council position. “I just think I’d do a good job at it. I’d like to give it a try, anyway.”

Deaton works at Tiffin Motorhomes and is a reserve police officer for the Red Bay Police Department, in addition to working with the fire department.

He is married to Elizabeth, and he has one son, AJ, a football player at Red Bay High School, and two step-children, Shelby and Jackson Stidham.

“If elected, I’ll just do the best I can to help the city,” he said.
