Johnny Huckaba, age 75, moved to Heaven on Tuesday, April 28, 2015. He had a beautiful life and was loved by many. Born March 23, 1940 in Franklin County, Alabama, the son of Charlie Huckaba and Nora Montgomery Huckaba, he attended Belgreen School in Belgreen. Johnny moved to Dallas, Texas when he was 16, later marrying his love, Virginia McBride Huckaba. Johnny and Virginia resided in Irving, Texas for over 50 years. Johnny was the owner and operator of Huckaba Fence and Contracting in Irving for more than 45 years. He was the founder and vocalist of the Huckaba Family, A Southern Gospel Singing Group for 41 years, Executive Director of Southern Gospel Music Association of Texas, and a member of Heritage Pentecostal Church of God in Irving. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Betty Presley and a brother, James Huckaba. Survivors include his wife Virginia of Irving; daughters, Regina Bestul and husband Ricky of Paris, Shereen King and husband Chris of Rockwall; sons, Kerry Huckaba and wife Teri of Hurst, and Brett Huckaba and wife Samantha of Rockwall; 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Kiel and husband David, Shirley Nix and husband Dale, and Peggy Smith and husband Robert, all of Alabama; brothers, Delmer Huckaba of Alabama, Elmer Huckaba and wife Stella of Irving, Ted Huckaba and wife Sherry of Alabama; many loved nephews, nieces and cousins; and a host of precious friends. A viewing was held Friday at Donnelly’s Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, 606 West Airport Freeway in Irving. Funeral service was Saturday, May 2 at Christ Church, 1750 East Airport Freeway in Irving with Rev. Jim Moore and Rev. Samuel Evers officiating. Pallbearers were Caleb Huckaba, grandson; Trever Bestul, grandson; Rhett Bestul, grandson; Caleb King, grandson; Tony Huckaba, nephew; Michael Huckaba, nephew; David Huckaba, nephew; Darren Presley, nephew; Stacey Presley, nephew; Shannon Kiel, nephew. Honorary Pallbearers: Mike Torti, Wally Schultz, Doug Miles, John Berkley, Leo Atkinson and David Geiger. The family received friends at the church immediately following the service. Graveside service at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
