The Tharptown Wildcats used a dominant ground game to whip the Waterloo Cougars and improve to 3-0 on the season.

The Wildcats piled up 379 yard of rushing offense Friday night in route to the 43-16 win.  In the process, two Tharptown seniors turned in 100-yard rushing performances- Alan Bohannon (128 yards) and Jon Donner (102 yards).

The Tharptown defense had a great night holding Waterloo to only 121 total yards.

Tharptown scored early in the game on a 47-yard run by Donner. The two-point conversion pass from Kelby Hallmark to Trent Miller put the Wildcats on top 8-0.  The Wildcats would never surrender the lead.

On their next possession quarterback Kelby Hallmark sprinted to a 32-yard touchdown.  Shawn Hines point-after made it 15-0.

Waterloo cut into Tharptown’s lead on the first play of the second quarter on a 28-yard pass play.

From that point Tharptown would score 28 unanswered points.

With 10:18 to go in the first half Donner scored his second touchdown of the night on a 10-yard run making the score 21-8.

On their final possession of the first half Hallmark connected with Miller for a 30-yard touchdown pass.  Donner’s two-point conversion run gave the Wildcats a 29-8 halftime lead.

Tharptown added a score in the third quarter on a 3-yard run by Mike Rice.  Hines PAT made the score 36-8.

In the fourth quarter Bohannon hit Matthew Brasuell on a 5-yard touchdown pass. Hines PAT made the score 43-8.
