Meridian business owner Barbara Henson will be one of 15 people from Mississippi who will appear onstage today with President Bush in Madison.
Henson, the Ward 3 Meridian city councilman and owner of Barbara Henson's Nursery School, Kindergarten &Swim Gym, was selected by a Jackson lobbyist on Monday to be a part of the 15-person panel.
The panel was scheduled to be onstage with the president at 10:15 a.m. today at Madison Central High School. Henson said she was told the president will refer to the panel during a speech on civil justice reform.
Ron Aldridge, a lobbyist for the National Federation of Independent Businesses, called Henson on Monday afternoon at work to inform her that he had selected her to represent day cares in Mississippi.
Henson said she's excited about meeting the president.
Henson has served on the five-member city council since 1989 and has operated her Meridian day care for 42 years.
