A few Russellville citizens were responsible for aiding an arrest Saturday by detaining a suspect until police arrived.

Saturday, Russellville officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Lauderdale Street concerning an attempted abduction of a child. According to investigators, while officers were still en route to the scene, additional information was received that bystanders had the suspect detained.

When the RPD arrived on the scene, the suspect, Carlos Ramos Leiva, was taken into custody on charges of public intoxication and open container of alcohol.

Investigators then began their investigation into the allegations that the suspect had attempted to lure a small child away from the residence she was visiting. Once investigators completed the investigation, the suspect was formally charged with enticing a child for immoral purposes Monday morning.

Bond was set at $50,000, and the suspect was transferred to Franklin County Jail Monday afternoon.
