Meridian police are investigating a high-speed, 20-minute chase Wednesday night that ended with a wreck on Dunns Falls Road in Clarke County and the arrest of two men.
The chase ended after a Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by Octavio Riveria, 33, and Ramon Garcia, age unavailable, flipped while trying to avoid a roadblock set up by two police cars.
The men were pulled from the wrecked vehicle and taken into custody by Meridian police. They were being held today in Lauderdale County jail for questioning.
Clarke County Sheriff Todd Kemp, who was in one of the two cars in the roadblock, said he believes the Jeep may be stolen from Oxford, Ala.
The chase began in the westbound lane of Interstate 20/59, near the 22nd Avenue exit after Meridian K-9 officer Chris Read stopped the two men for a routine traffic stop.
The chase continued down Interstate 59 until the suspects took the Meehan exit and headed toward Dunn's Falls Road.
