It's summer and that means Camp Meridale is open. The adventures are limitless. There's pottery, horseback riding, swimming, hiking trails, an obstacle course, canoes and of course camping.
Camp Meridale is located on 160 wooded acres in Causeyville, 7 miles southeast of Meridian.
Meridale has an air-conditioned lodge for meals, a pottery barn, an infirmary and an amphitheater for skits and campfires.
Girls will live in one of the three units: Prairie Cloud, eight covered wagons that sleep four each; Tall Trees, the camp sits on top of a hill with eight platform tents that sleep four each; or the Tree Houses, cabins built on stilts that sleep four girls in bunk beds.
One of the most popular activities is the horseback riding program, returning for its second year.
The riding program provides a safe and fun-filled riding experience for the campers. Western style riding will be offered as well as first-time "horse rides," intended to introduce girls to horses in a reassuring environment. Instruction begins with un-mounted lessons to familiarize riders with horse behavior, safety rules and basic riding skills.
All girls who choose to ride horse will need boots with a1/2-inch heel and slick bottom, and long pants.
But it's the friendship that campers find the most rewarding.
