Leake Academy swept Brookhaven Academy 18-8 and 21-8 Friday afternoon in a pair of six-inning games to win the Academy AA state slow-pitch championship at Brandon.

Leake led 4-1 after an inning only to have Brookhaven take an 8-6 lead with five runs in the top of the third.
The Lady Rebels scored five times in the bottom of the third to take an 11-8 lead and did not allow the Lady Cougars to cross the plate again in that game.
Kristin Chipley (26-2) got the win.
In the second game, Leake hammered 27 hits to finish its year with a 28-2 record.
Anna Lisa Posey again led the offense with three singles, two triples, and four RBIs. Paige Posey had two singles, a double, and a triple to drive in three runs. Chipley had three singles and three RBIs. Cumberland had two doubles, a single, and two RBIs. Agent had a single, a homer, and two RBIs. McNeil had three singles. Dickens had two singles and a double. Dickerson had a single and two RBIs. Sarah James and Harrell both had a pair of singles.
Leake padded a 6-3 lead with 10 runs in the top of the fourth inning and never looked back.
Chipley (27-2) was the winning pitcher.
Brookhaven had 24 hits in the two games.
Leake had belted Oak Forest Academy of Amite, La., 16-0 and then shredded Marvell (Ark.) Academy 31-9 in AA state tournament action at Brookhaven last week before rain washed out the remainder of the tournament and resulted in Friday's best-of-three series between Leake and Brookhaven. Both were undefeated in the original tournament.
Leake had 32 hits in the win over Marvell.
Cumberland also said that this would be his last year to coach at Leake.
