OBITUARIES FOR SUNDAY, FEB. 4, 2001

JESSIE STARK COVINGTON LEWIS
Services for Jessie Stark Covington Lewis will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Meridian with burial in Neshoba Baptist Church Cemetery in Neshoba County. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Lewis, 90, of Meridian, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at her home in Meridian. She was born in Belen in the Mississippi Delta. She received her education at Mississippi University for Women, Delta State University and Duke University. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught the Bethany Sunday School class. She served on a number of church committees, including the nominating and finance committees. She taught Bible study in the Bill Wallace Circle of the Baptist Women's Missionary Society and was one of the first women to serve on the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board.
Mrs. Lewis was active for many years in the Mississippi Federation of Women's Clubs, serving as state literature and drama chairman. An avid reader and a popular storyteller, she was often asked to give programs for clubs and organizations around the state. She was one of the original directors of the Meridian Restoration Foundation, a board member for Merrehope and a member of the Alpha Delphian Literary and the Twentieth Century Garden Clubs. Mrs. Lewis was also on the original state board of the Mississippians for Education Television.
A former first grade teacher, Mrs. Lewis was instrumental in organizing and teaching a kindergarten in Amory. She served as chairman of the committee that organized the first kindergarten in Meridian's First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lewis was honored by being named Queen of the 1979 Meridian Junior Auxiliary Ball.
Survivors include a son, Charles L. "Chuck" Lewis Jr. of Louisville; and a daughter, Linda Carol Lewis of Columbia, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Lewis.
The family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be Monday from 5-8 pm. at the funeral home.
ERVIN Q. BULLARD

PITTSBORO Services for Ervin Q. Bullard will be held today at 3 p.m. at Pittsboro Baptist Church with the Rev. Buford Usry and Daniel Hathrone officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery with Pryor Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bullard, 88, of Pittsboro, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Calhoun County Nursing Home. He was a retired building contractor and a member of the Pittsboro Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and music director for 36 years. A member of the Pittsboro Masonic Lodge No. 155, Mr. Bullard was a previous member of the Three Rivers Planning District and the Mississippi Valley Gas Board of which he served as president. He served as the mayor of Pittsboro for 42 years, Calhoun County circuit clerk from 1940-44 and was owner and operator of Bullard's General Merchandise Store from 1947-56.
Survivors include two daughters, Ellen Martin of Memphis, Tenn., and Hilda Hill of Cleveland; three sons, Paul Bullard of Meridian, and Gayle Bullard and Fred Bullard, both of Pittsboro; a sister, Ozell Cummings of Enterprise, Ala.; and several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vista Malone Bullard; his parents, Anderson and Eliza Roberts Bullard; two sisters and seven brothers.
The family requests memorials be made to Pittsboro Baptist Church, P.O. Box 56, Pittsboro, MS 38951.
Pallbearers will include his grandsons, and honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Pittsboro Baptist Church and members of the Pittsboro Fire Department.
ELAINE PUCKETT GRAHAM

NEWTON Services for Elaine Puckett Graham will be held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Richard Ethridge and Stan Buckley officiating. Burial will be in Newton County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Graham, 86, of Decatur, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Laird Hospital in Union. She was a member of Clarke Venable Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Annette Reeves of Decatur and Glenda Fowler of Los Angeles; a son, Dr. Harold Graham of Belle Chase, La.; two sisters, Sarah Hollingsworth of Decatur and Janette Haralson of Conehatta; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials be made to Clarke Venable Baptist Church.
Visitation will be today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
LARRY L. HENRY
BUTLER, Ala. Services for Larry L. Henry will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home chapel with burial in Butler City Cemetery.
Mr. Henry, 50, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian.
Survivors include his mother, Pearl E. Boykin of Butler; a sister, Jackie Sue Spell of Crowley, La.; and his step-father, Roy T. Boykin of Butler.
Visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
RUBY S. JAMES
Retired registered nurse
Services for Ruby S. James will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Carl White and the Rev. Merrill Wade officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. James, 92, of Meridian, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a retired registered nurse and a longtime member of Highland Baptist Church and the Meridian Coin Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda James of Meridian; a son, Dr. Elwyn James of Spartanburg, S.C.; a sister, Dorothy White of Meridian; her grandchildren, Kellie James, Lauren James and Robert James, all of Spartanburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Josephine Savell and two brothers, Bill and Glynn Savell.
Visitation will be today from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
