Police searching for man who led them on chase

Police are still searching for a man who led them on a wild car chase late Monday night.

Investigators said Neil Myron Larkins Jr., 32, whose last known address is on LaGrange Road, Leighton, is wanted for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle by force. He is also wanted on a felony probation violation for drug-related charges involving a 2010 case.

Police said Larkins is considered to be dangerous.

Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said Larkins is accused of taking his ex-girlfriend’s car and forcing her inside the vehicle while in the parking lot of the Russellville McDonald’s late Monday.

“He also demanded that his 15-year-old son get in the car with him,” Hargett said.

Investigators said Larkins took a can of Redi-Whip, which is a cool whipped topping, from the restaurant and fled outside before grabbing his ex-girlfriend and forcing her inside the car.

Officers tried to stop Larkins in the McDonald’s parking lot but he refused to stop and the chase began.

“The chase ended up on a dirt road, Aday Quarry Road, which is off Alabama 24 east of Russellville,” Hargett said.

The car blew out a tire, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and wreck. The woman and boy were found, but Larkins fled on foot and evaded police.

Investigators believed they had located Larkins in Colbert County Tuesday morning, but he was able to elude authorities once again. Anyone knowing anything about Larkins’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Russellville Police Department at 256-332-2230.
