The Southeast Lauderdale Tigers gave the Quitman Panthers its 16th win of the season Saturday night at Tiger Field. The Panthers took the decision 13-6.
Richardson said he feels like the Tigers are one play away from winning games in clutch situations.
The Tigers made their first mistake in the game, when they loaded the bases for the Panthers. A Panther batter later struck out, but due to a past ball, the Panthers were allowed a run and another chance to score. The second opportunity failed, so Southeast survived with only one run being scored.
Both Southeast and Quitman scored runs in the second inning, to make the score 2-1.
In the fourth inning, the Panthers scored three runs on one hit to make the score 5-1.
Quitman put four more runs on the board in the fifth inning, but they were answered by the Tigers. Brandon Booker had a lead-off single for the Tigers, bringing up Clay McRee. McRee doubled to left field to put Booker in scoring position. Tyler Harper was given a free pass to first base, as he was hit by a pitch. Tyler Overby was the next batter. Overby hit a shot to right field, that got past the defender for a double to score Booker. The Tigers trailed 9-2. Kyle Dawson stepped into the batters box, and ripped a ball down the left field line for a three RBI triple. Southeast rallied to make the score 9-6 going into the sixth.
In the sixth inning, the Tigers got another lead-off single from Booker, to bring up Bubba Shelby. Shelby was also allowed a free pass to first base after being hit-by-pitch. Harper drove in Booker with a single to right field.
In the seventh inning, Quitman got four insurance runs to seal a 13-6 win.
Anthony McKenzie took the win for the Panthers, while Jeff Linton suffered the loss. Terrence Lafferty picked up the save for Quitman.
The 8-7 Tigers will host Northeast Lauderdale Tuesday at 7 p.m., while 16-4 Quitman will host Northeast Jones.
