Boswell sets focus on improving county roads

By By Chris Allen Baker / staff writer

Even though his district has seen recent road and bridge improvements, Lauderdale County Supervisor Ray Boswell said more work is in store during the next two years.
Among the upcoming projects in District 5, he said, is the re-sealing of Long Creek, Valley, Zero and Point Juanita roads to help prevent potholes and keep the streets from deteriorating.
Boswell decides which road projects receive priority in his district.
Projects recently completed in District 5 include improvements to a railroad overpass near Clarke County and the resurfacing of parts of Causeyville Road.
Boswell said workers recently replaced a bridge on Buccataunna Road. He said plans are in the works to replace a Causeyville Road bridge over Brown Creek east of Causeyville.
He said that Alice Irby, Rex Roberson, Sgt. Fritz Burk and Kelva McRae roads were all paved recently.
Besides road work, Boswell said he was proud that Whynot, Causeyville and Vimville volunteer fire departments upgraded their rating to a Class 8 a move that reduced insurance rates for residents.
