Businesses report stolen paintings

Meridian police are searching for the culprits in a string of art burglaries one in which a $20,000 painting was stolen from Trustmark National Bank on 23rd Avenue.
Detective Deano Harper, a spokesman for the MPD, said today that three local businesses have reported stolen paintings.
In addition to the bank case, Harper said the MPD has received reports from two other businesses, Bonnie Busbee Art &Frame Gallery and Riley Hospital have both reported similar cases, he said.
A $400 painting was taken from Busbee's and several pieces were taken from Riley's.
Anyone who thinks they might have information in these burglaries is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 485-1860.
