State championship games postponed

A slow-moving but powerful storm front caused the postponement of Thursday's Academy A and AA State Championship games.
The A final between Wayne Academy and Trinity Episcopal has been moved to 1 p.m. on Saturday at Mississippi College's Robinson-Hale Stadium in Clinton. The AA final between Oak Forest, La., and Magnolia Heights has been moved to 7 p.m. on Saturday night. The AAA and AAAA finals will remain on schedule for today.
Wayne Academy administrator Patty Tynes said she agreed with the Mississippi Private School Association's decision to postpone the game.
The postponement, however, did send the Wayne students back to class on Thursday.
Trinity head football coach David King was glad to hear the MPSA decision.
The two-day delay could also have a benefit for Trinity.
But King was quick to point out that not having to play in the rain is a far greater plus.
The bad news is that Saturday's final will be the third game on a soggy Robinson-Hale Stadium since AAA and AAAA finals will be played on Friday.
