A Phil Campbell man was arrested on multiple charges on Christmas Eve after leading law enforcement officers on a chase through the county.

Jason Floyd Baker, 32, 1673 Franklin 34, Phil Campbell, was arrested on charges of first-degree theft of property of a motor vehicle, driving under the influence, third-degree domestic violence-harassment, first-degree assault of a police officer, two counts of first-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment and illegal possession of alcohol.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver, deputies responded to a call on Franklin 34 on Saturday where it was stated that Baker was harassing people inside that residence.

Oliver said while deputies were in route to the residence, they spotted the vehicle Baker was reportedly driving and attempted to pull him over, but Oliver said Baker ran from officers.

Inv. Greg Pinkard said Baker led sheriff’s deputies, state troopers and officials with the ABC Board on a chase to a different residence in Phil Campbell where the homeowner fired four shots at the vehicle’s tires in an effort to help police stop Baker’s vehicle.

Oliver said during the course of the chase, Baker damaged two patrol cars and a bystander’s vehicle.

Oliver said the car Baker was driving during the chase was also reported as stolen.

Baker’s bond was set at $7,500 but he is currently being held in the Franklin County Jail on bond violations from a previous drug case.
