EMYFC Super Bowl set for today

The East Mississippi Youth Football Conference Super Bowl Championship will be held today at Wayne County High School. The action starts at 10:00 am.
The championship, started in 1995, is marking its seventh anniversary. Its purpose is to promote sportsmanship and develop character among the young people in our communities.
The conference is made up of players ages 8-12 in the southern and eastern regions of the state.
The rookie league is made up of 8 and 9-year-olds. The midget and pee-wee leagues includes players 10-12 years old, divided by weight for safety.
The teams are made up of several hundred players who compete throughout the year.
The championship is played by the winners of the eastern and conferences. Both conferences are run by a board of directors and volunteers.
The Rookie league championship at 2:30 p.m. will be between the 11-0 Petal White team and the 8-1 Buckatunna Rookies.
The Midget league champions ship will be played at 4 p.m. by the 9-1 North Forrest Midgets and the 7-0 Meridian White team.
The final championship will be for the pee-wee league. The 10-0 North Forest team will play the 5-2 South East Clarkdale at 5:30.
Third place games will start at 10 a.m. with the Rookie league.
The 6-4 Collins Rookies will play the 6-4 Meridian Blue team. At 11:30, it's the 6-4 Petal White team Midgets vs. the 6-2 Meridian Blue Midgets.
The final third place game will be at 1 p.m. between the 6-4-1 Prentiss Pee-Wees and the 6-1 Buckatunna team.
Outback Steak House will cater a dinner for players, cheerleaders and parents. The dinner will be Nov. 20, at 6:30 p.m., at the Frank Cochran Center in Highland Park. This annual event is a chance to recognize the players and volunteers for their support and hard work.
