John Herman Coats

John Herman Coats, 88, of Vina, Ala. died Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Red Bay Hospital.  He was a native of Franklin County, Ala. and was the groundskeeper at the Franklin County Courthouse in Russellville.  He attended Emmanuel Baptist Church, Belmont, Miss.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Bro. David Harrell, Bro. Bill Bowling and Bro. Daryl Wingo officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Red Bay, Ala.  Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala. assisted the family.
He is survived by two daughters, Martha Kennedy and husband, Dennis, of Golden and Linda Coats, of Vina, Ala.; one grandson, Seth Kennedy and wife, Lisa, of Golden, Miss.; and three great-grandsons, Mitchell Kennedy, Bryce Kennedy and Adam Strickland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Girlene Martin Coats; granddaughter, Lisa Strickland; his parents, Emmitt and Milla Gober Coats; and four sisters.
Pallbearers were Jackie Wingo, Aulsie Bolton, Sonny Martin, Charlie Powers, Robert Holland and Jerry Patterson.
