Prewitt-Brooks, McLelland

Ashley Celeste McLelland and John Patrick Prewitt-Brooks, both of Meridian, were married Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Merrehope, with the Rev. Laverne Pickett officiating.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Guy J. McLelland II of Meridian and Mrs. and Mrs. Dearl Brooks of Collinsville.
Grandparents of the bride are Helen Kern and the late Jackson R. Kern Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Guy J. McLelland Sr., all of Meridian.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Miller of Ackerman, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Prewitt of Weir and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Osborn of Kilmichael.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Autumn Beck, sister of the bridegroom, vocalist; Scott McQuaig, vocalist and acoustic guitar; and Lindsey Hollis, pianist.
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a white creep dress with an A-line bodice featuring cap sleeves, a boatneck and full tulle skirt. She carried a bouquet of gerbera daisies accented with white daises and a silk butterfly.
Amber Leigh McLelland of Meridian attended her sister as maid of honor. Other attendants were Heather George of Meridian and Autumn Beck of Sumrall, sister of the bridegroom.
Rebekah Beck of Sumrall, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl.
Steve Smith of Meridian served as best man. Groomsmen and ushers were Jamie Parker of Meridian, Dewayne Green of Collinsville, John McLelland of Quitman, brother of the bride, and Chris Summerford of Meridian.
Favor attendants were Felicia Kern and Kelsey Kern, cousins of the bride. Butterfly attendants were Amber McLelland and Heather George.
A reception was held at Merrehope following the ceremony.
Assisting at the reception were Shirley Garrard, Jeanie Sanders, Lindsey McDaniel, Raven Sevier and Shannon Green.
As the couple departed the reception, guests released butterflies and rang tiny silver wedding bells to wish the couple a glorious beginning to the start of their life together.
They reside in Meridian.
