Two taken in on Burglary charges

A Russellville man and woman were taken into custody over the weekend for breaking into and stealing some items from Ray’s Southside Grocery, authorities said.

Franklin County Sheriff’s office investigators said Jonathan Alexander, 26, and Jennifer Milam, 27, both of 1004 Franklin 74, Russellville were charged with first-degree criminal mischief, third-degree burglary, second-degree theft of property and criminal possession of burglar’s tools.

Investigators said a 911 call was received notifying authorities of a break-in at Ray’s Grocery.

Reports indicate Milam made a false 911 call out to Catfish Haven to allegedly detour deputies away from the area around Ray’s Grocery.

Authorities said Alexander was caught walking around the scene at Ray’s Grocery and appeared to be intoxicated.

Investigators said Milam pulled up at the scene shortly after Alexander was taken into custody and was arrested for the same charges.

Damages at the business were estimated to exceed $2,500 and upon search of the vehicle Milam was in, items were found taken from the store and tools used for the break-in were also taken as evidence.

Both are being held at the Franklin County Jail.
