East Central Community College fast-pitch softball coach Mike Anderson has announced the signing of 12 players for the 2002 team.
Heading up the list of newcomers is Newton County High School standout right-handed pitcher April Bufkin. Bufkin, who compiled a three-year pitching record of 51-10, was 23-3 on the mound this year for the 35-4 Lady Cougars. She was 16-2 as a junior as Newton County won the Class 1A/2A/3A state championship.
Also inking with ECCC is first baseman/third baseman Paige Posey of Leake Academy. Posey batted .383 with 27 RBIs and 32 runs for the 20-14 Lady Rebels this past fall as they finished fourth in the Academy AA State Tournament.
Four members of Philadelphia's 13-5 squad inked with Anderson's team. They are pitcher/second baseman Jennie Battle, shortstop Rhonda Munn, and outfielders Krystal Moore and Morgan Price.
Other newcomers to the Lady Warriors are Faith Whitfield of Louisville, Rachel Smith of Grace Christian, Paige Sullivan of Nanih Waiya, Tina Robbins and Adria Cremeen of Noxapater, and Amanda Wilcher of Edinburg.
