Robert B. "Bob" Vorse Jr., 80, of Red Bay, Ala., passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2009, at Red Bay Hospital.
He was born Jan. 16, 1929, in Colorado and was an insurance salesman. He was a member of Red Bay First Baptist Church.
Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 12 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Larry Hill officiating.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Vorse of Red Bay; sons, Bruce Vorse of San Antonio, Dennis Vorse of Palmetto, Fla., and Lanny Vorse of Florida; brother, Marvin Plourd of California; and grandchildren, Brianne, Mallory, Bailey, Kindle, Melissa and Matthew.

Janis H. Holley, 62, passed away after a three-year fight with cancer in her home in Oxford, Miss., on Friday, Feb. 13, 2009.
Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 14 at St. John's Catholic Church in Oxford. Burial was in Oxford Memorial Cemetery.
She was born in Memphis, Tenn., to Dr. B.S. and Emily Henry on Oct. 19, 1946. She spent her youth in Russellville, Ala., and was a graduate of the University of Mississippi where she earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority.
After graduation from college she began her career as a research technician, first with The University of Mississippi's Research Institute of Pharmacological Science's nationally renowned Marijuana Research Project. Then she worked for Proctor and Gamble's subsidiary, Buckeye Cellulose, and upon moving to Columbus, Miss., she assisted in the Mississippi State University Veterinary School's Aquaculture Project.
In her second career, she worked as a commercial real estate appraiser in Columbus and Meridian, Miss. She achieved her MAI designation and founded Appraisers Associated of Oxford, Inc. and worked in the appraisal industry until her death. She was a past president of the Book Lovers Club of Oxford and was an avid fan of all things "Ole Miss."
She is survived by her husband, Reginald L. Holley of Oxford; daughters, Emily E. Holley of Germantown, Tenn., and Ashley H. Tomlinson and husband Drew of Somerville, Tenn.; sister, Gayle H. Maddox and husband Phillip of Gulf Shores; grandson and the apple of Janis' eye, Trent Tomlinson; niece, Courtney Maddox of Birmingham; and nephew, Braxton Maddox of Houston, Texas.
The family has asked that memorial donations her memory be made to: Ole Miss Women's Council for Philanthropy, P.O. Box 249, University, MS 38677 or to The American Cancer Society, Tupelo Office, 607 West Main Street, Suite C, Tupelo, MS 38801.
Waller Funeral Home in Oxford, Miss., assisted the family.
