Ray leaves a lasting legacy in schools

The Russellville City Schools system said good-bye to a great friend Friday when Dr. Wayne Ray locked his office one final time.
Ray left the system this week after serving 43 1/2 years as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent.
He spent more than a career inside the system, he spent a lifetime. He certainly deserves the fanfare from his peers and former students that he's received. The system, though its facing a few trying years, will continue to provide great education for our students just as it has for more than 75 years.
But the school board faces a daunting task in naming his successor.
This is a crucial hire for the system and this community.
