The Russellville High School chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America became an official sponsor of the Russellville Christmas Mission this week when they donated over $300 to the cause.
Susie Malone, club sponsor, said the money was collected by FBLA members and was presented to Richard Parker by FBLA President Jordain Riley Wednesday morning during the club's annual Christmas party.
Parker said the Christmas Mission is sponsored by First Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, CB&S Bank, Russellville Civitan, Russellville Kiwanis, Jackson Gas Mart and FBLA.
"Anyone who helps us by donating $100 or more becomes an official sponsor," Parker said.
FBLA donated $314 for the project.
Parker said a dinner will be held Saturday, Dec. 20 at the A.W. Todd Center.
"We will be serving 600 people that day," Parker said. "We will serve 300 at 11 a.m. and 300 at 1 p.m."
Parker said that while the event is free, it is a ticketed event, and anyone wishing to come that day must register at the churches in order to attend.
Each child under 12 will receive a small gift during the event.
Parker said the money donated by the FBLA will go to help cover the cost of the meal, which is over $3,000 for that number of people.
"We are also taking donations of small gifts for the event," Parker said. "We are in process of getting doves distributed so that items can be purchased."
Parker said they are also looking for volunteers to serve that day. Anyone interested in helping out should contact First Baptist Church at 332-2065.
