PHIL CAMPBELL – The Phil Campbell Study Club recently donated outdoor benches to the Senior Citizens Center.
Freida Eubank, club member and project chairperson, said the benches were donated to the center on Nov. 14.
In addition to the bench project, the club provides two scholarships to two girls from Phil Campbell High School who is planning to attend Northwest Shoals Community College.
"The amount of the scholarships vary," Eubank said. "This past year, we awarded $700 scholarships."
The club also undertakes a project every Christmas and this year, the club decided to help out the East Franklin County and Phil Campbell school nurse.
"Nurses have limited supplies, and we want to be able to help her out this year," Nancy Upton, club president, said.
Upton said the school nurses come into contact with students with different needs, and they go through the proper channels to get them assistance.
"Even though the nurses work on getting the needs met through organizations, sometimes the needs are immediate," Upton said.
The club was organized in 1951, and continues to have an active membership.
