Sheila Bowling

Sheila "Tootsie" Story Bowling, age 72, Russellville, Alabama passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2008 at Terrace Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Robbins, Tenn., on February 25, 1936, to Claude and Florence West Storey.
The visitation was Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008 at West-Murley Funeral Home in Oneida, Tenn. The 11 a.m. funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 26 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Black Creek Cemetery, Robbins, TN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyed Bowling; parents, Claude and Florence Storey; seven brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by daughters, Pauline Rimmer Hughes and husband, Gary, and Colleen Bowling; sons, Floyd Bowling, Jr. and wife, Debbie, and Ralph Bowling; brother, Glen Storey and wife, Edith; sisters, Betty Pemberton and Flossie Hughette; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Linda Ritchie, 62, of Russellville, Ala., passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at Florence Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born in Franklin County on June 26, 1946 to Charlie Edwards and Reba Borden Edwards.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 25 at Akins Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville with Sis. Carolyn Baker and Bro. Jim Lumpkin officiating. Interment was in Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Frankie and Randy Baker; parents, Charlie Edwards and Reba George.
She is survived by sons, Jarrett Baker and wife, Paula; daughters, Lisa Wilson and husband, Johnny, Kim Bailey and husband, Jeff, Pam Murray; sister, Carolyn McNutt; brothers, Gary George, Jimmy Wayne George; 4 grandchildren, Corey Murray, Kody Caldwell, Kayla Bailey, Summer Baker.
The family wants to thank the staff at Florence Nursing and Rehab Center and Wiregrass Hospice for the loving care given to their mother.

Jerry F. Taylor, 61, of Mount Vernon, Ill., passed away Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008 in Paducah, Ky.
He was a native of Russellville and was a self employed builder of mining equipment. He was a member of Logan Street Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Ill.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Ill. Interment will be Friday, Nov. 28, 2008 at 11 a.m., at Union Hill Cemetery in Phil Campbell.
He is survived by three sons, Chris Taylor and wife, J.J., of Prattville, Ala., Jeff Taylor and wife, Heather, of Paducah, Ky., Matt Taylor and fianc/e Abby Nolker, of Scheller, Ill.; sister, Ann Patrick and husband, Bill, of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theo and Elaine Brown Taylor; and an infant daughter, Laura Lynn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Logan Street Baptist Church, c/o Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mount Vernon, Ill. 62864.

Joy Lynn Lindsey, 39, of Russellville, Ala., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at her residence.
She was a native of Huntsville, but had lived in this area for the past 21 years. She attended Muscle Shoals Baptist Church.
Funeral services were Sunday, Nov. 23 at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville with Randy Nichols officiating. Burial was in Goines Cemetery in Russellville.
Pallbearers were Kevin Lane, David Reynolds, Herman Reiser, Daren Judkins, Ronnie Bratton and Jody. Nicholas Tutich was a honorary pallbearer.
She was survived by her biological mother, Barbara Ratliffe, of South Chicago Heights, Ill.; step-mother, Barbara Lindsey of Russellville; children, Brittany Ann Hall of Russellville and Joshua Ray Judkins of McMinnville, Tenn.; siblings, Bobby Lindsey of Russellville, Dean Lindsey of Muscle Shoals, Willie Lindsey of Russellville, Greg Garret of Russellville, Tonia Osborne of Denver, Colo., Shirley Reiser of LaPorte, Ind., and James Poole of Fontana, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby R. and Jenece Lindsey, and a brother, Michael Poole.

Hubert Hood

Hubert Hood, 79, of Double Springs, Ala. passed away Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at Russellville Hospital. He was born in Winston County on April 30, 1929 to Tim Hood and Pearl Brannan Hood.
The funeral services were Monday, Nov. 24 at John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti, Mo., with Rev. Paul Quinn officiating. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers were his grandsons.
He was preceded in death by parents, Jim and Pearl Hood; brothers, James and L.V. Hood; sister, Purney Carter.
He leaves to cherish his memory children, Raven Millwood of Double Springs, Tommy Smith of Lynn, Brinda Marks of Hayti, Mo., Gale Casey of Finely, Tenn., Jane Dodson of Holland, Mo., Regina Gregory of Kennett, Mo, Ann Simpson of Manilla, Ark., and Neal Hood of Kennett, Mo.; sisters, Louise Johnson of Portageville, Mo., Brenda Hunt of Steele, Mo.; brothers, Travis Hood of Loretta, Tenn., Burtis Hood of Jasper and Mack Hood of Double Springs; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
He was a farmer, drove tractors and combines in Missouri and worked in sawmills in Alabama. He was a very hard worker.

Carl David Mann, 59, of Russellville, Ala., passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, in Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield.
He was born Friday, July 29, 1949, in Russellville. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Russellville. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served during the Vietnam era.
Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 22 at Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Darrell Butts will officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Memory Gardens.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Wanda Mann; father, Eustace Mann; and brother, Kenny Mann.
He is survived by his sons, Wayne and Justice Mann; mother, Luree Mann; and brother, Gary Mann.

Opal Batchelor, 79, of Double Springs, Ala., passed away Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at her residence.
She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 23 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Wayne Williams and Tony Gasaway officiating. Burial followed at the adjoining cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Annette Little; sister, Mildred Hunter Taylor; and grandchild, Ashley Batchelor Little.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John B. and Sarah Elliott Hunter; her husband, J.D. Batchelor; and sister, Louise White.
