The Franklin County Extension Service and the Farm City Planning Committee will host the annual Farm City Banquet Monday, Nov. 24 beginning at 6:30 p.m.
This year's theme will be "A Better Place" and former Extension Agent Karen Thompson will serve as the emcee.
Extension Agent Katerina Cole said there will be several awards handed out during the banquet, including Citizen of the Year, Cattleman of the Year and Farmer of the Year.
"There will be also awards given from the Natural Resource and Conservation Service," she said.
Cole said that Franklin County farmers, rural townspeople and city residents are what make our nation's agricultural production and distribution successful, and those are the people who also make Franklin County "a better place."
"We will also present the award for the essay and poster contests in the schools that evening," she said.
The general public is encouraged to attend this year's event, and tickets can be purchased through your civic organization, Franklin County Extension Office, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Franklin County Co-op or through local banks. The cost is $10 per ticket.
