Council approves board members

The Russellville City Council approved two board appointments during its Monday meeting, which included a 50-minute executive session to discuss personnel issues.
Dan Terry and Johnny Thornton each received full-term appointments. Terry, who was serving a partial term, will continue on the Water Board on a full term, while Thornton was re-appointed to the Gas Board.
The council also voted to give 5 percent merit raises to LaDonna Hitt and Joe Hargett. Hitt, a city administrative employee, recently earned the professional designation of certified court clerk/magistrate, while Hargett, a police sergeant, completed basic EMT certification Sept. 16.
There was no action taken on a claim from Miguel Siguena Sanchez for personal vehicle damages and an appropriation for the Community Intensive Training for Youth (CITY) program due to a lack of motion, and a vote to contract with G&S Concessions for management of the A.W. Todd Centre was postponed until the Oct. 6 meeting
The CITY program, which is primarily funded by state and federal money, assists at-risk youths in the community. The Franklin County CITY program will lose two staff members and a counselor beginning in October due to budget constraints.
