Sonja Frederick Murphy, 56, of Huntsville, formerly of Haleyville, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2008. She was retired from the Huntsville City School System after 25 years of service as a special education teacher at Mountain Gap Middle School.
Funeral services were held July 21 at Winston Memorial Cemetery in Haleyville with Bro. John Verciglio presiding.
She is survived by her husband, John Murphy; daughter Lindsey Eversole; son, Will Taylor; mother Edna Porter and her husband George; brother Mark Frederick; step-sons, Sean, Stewart and Steven Murphy; mother-in-law Dorothy Price; and several other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Frederick.

Martha F. Thrasher

Martha Frances Thrasher, of Bear Creek, passed away July 18, 2008. She was a member of Bear Creek United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Haleyville Textile.
Funeral services were held July 21 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Bro. Mark Woodruff officiating.
She is survived by son, Nick Cummings; granddaughter, Nickki Dianne Cummings; brother, Bobby Bagwell; and sisters Jo Courington and Geneva Strickland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Cummings; parents, Cornelius Alonzo and Velma Bagwell; and sister, Delores Bagwell.

Jack Brooks

Jack Brooks, 83, of Haleyville, passed away July 20, 2008. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Haleyville.
Funeral services were held July 22 at Pinkard Funerall Home in Haleyville with Dr. Jim Cooley officiating. Burial followed at Winston Memorial Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Brooks; sons, Randy Brooks and Brad Brooks; sister, Shirley Farmer; grandchildren Stephanie Rhodes, Conan Brooks and Jennifer Best; and great-grandchildren Samantha Rhodes, Brooks Rhodes and John Logan Best.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Oneal and Cordie Belle Brooks and sister, Earlene Barnett.

Maudine G. Adair

Maudine Gladys Adair, 74, of Double Springs, passed away July 21, 2008 at Helen Keller Hospital. She was a Baptist.
Funeral and burial services were held July 23 at Old Macedonia Independent Church with Bros. Alvis Treece and Chris Blevins officiating.
She is survived by her sons, Raymond Burnett, Danny Burnett and Don Adair; daughter, Gail Hood; brother, Amos Feltman; sister Merlene Wright; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Delly Feltman; son, Charles Burnett; daughter, Kathy Hamby; brothers, Roscoe Feltman and Ed Feltman; and sisters Bessie Hulsey and Louise Boyles.

Susan L. Tidwell

Susan Lynn Brewer Tidwell, 54, of Muscle Shoals, passed away July 22, 2008, at her residence.
Susan is now at peace with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her heart was filled with generosity and love for everyone she knew. We look forward to meeting again some day.
She was a native of Birmingham but lived in this area for the past 38 years. She was a member of New Beginning Church in Florence and was employed by the Colbert County Health Department.
The funeral is scheduled for Friday, July 25 at 11 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville with Dr. Tom Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Hyde Lake Cemetery in Littleville.
She is survived by her husband, Elvis Tidwell of Littleville; children, Will McCann and wife Danielle of Florence; Emily Kathryn McCann of Muscle Shoals; parents Nathan and Sue Brewer of Florence; brother, Nathan C. Brewer Jr. and wife Lauren of Birmingham; stepchildren, Elivs Tidwell Jr. and wife, Callie of Littleville, Cathy Joe Tidwell of New Jersey; grandchildren, Charlee McCann, Kenny Belew, Gracie and Levi Tidwell; special aunt, Sara Reese of Huntsville; nephew Ryan Brewer, wife Katie Brewer and son Boston of Birmingham; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Beginning Church in Florence or in the charity of your choice.
Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville will be directing.
Racine O'Daniel
July 22, 2008
Racine Gann O'Daniel, age 79, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008. She was a loving mother and a precious sister. She was well loved by her family and friends. The influence of her life upon others is a flame that will burn brightly forever. She left so much good with every soul that she touched on this earth. She was a native of Lawrence County and a former resident of Franklin County. She was a member of Eastside Church of Christ.
Funeral services were held July 24 at Akins Funeral Home in Russellville with Bro. Johnny Richardson officiating. Burial was in the Franklin Memory Gardens.
Ms. O'Daniel is survived by son, Danny O'Daniel (Chelsea); sisters, Christine Chapman (Bill) of Decatur, and Shirley Morgan (Edgar) of Ocoee, Fla.; and grandchildren, Anna O'Daniel, Nathan O'Daniel, Blake Rodgers and Rachel Rodgers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, R.A. Gann and Annie Rice Gann; husband, Marion Franklin O'Daniel and brother, Wallace C. Gann.
Pallbearers included Jack Williams, Bob Hamilton, Charles Rickard, Tim Bishop, Greg Trapp and Mike Vaughn.
Akins Funeral Home in Russellville assisted the family.
