The Russellville Parks and Recreation Department will be putting city facilities to good use this week and we encourage anyone who can to take advantage of that.
The city pool will be open until 8 p.m. Tuesday. It usually closes at 5:30 p.m.
Instead, on Tuesday, residents have the opportunity to swim from 5 – 8 p.m. with no charge.
The department is also opening City Lake for fishing from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.
There has been a no fishing ordinance in place since 2005 so the lake could be restocked with fish.
Parks and Recreation Director Chad Sears said the city is asking that everyone release the fish they catch so the pond will stay stocked.
City Lake is a revived and thriving park once again and allowing residents to fish there this week is a good move.
