Tennis circuit set for sixth season

The Shoals Junior Circuit will begin its sixth season this Saturday at Cypress Lakes Country Club in Muscle Shoals.
The circuit is a series of one-day tennis tournaments held each Saturday from May 31 through Aug. 9 at rotating locations throughout the Shoals area.
Girls and boys compete in 12-and-under, 15-and-under and 18-and-under age divisions, and the series will conclude with a masters event, which includes the top four qualifying players in each division.
There will be 10 tournaments played this summer with an eight-game pro-set and no-ad scoring. Each tournament will be singles only, with the exception of the doubles tournament at Turtle Point Country Club June 21.
To register, conact the site director by 6 p.m. Thursday before a tournament, which costs $12 to enter. Trophies will be presented to first, second and consolation winners of each tournament.
Two points will be awarded for entering each tournament and each main draw win, and one point will be given for a consolation draw win. The top four winners in each age division will receive awards at the end of the season and an invitation to the masters tournament.

Russellville High School will host a tournament July 26 with Jimmy Rea as site dirctor at 810-0764.
