County's Imagination Library turns two

By Staff
Melissa Cason
Franklin County's Imagination Library program is about to celebrate two years in the county, and is looking to add more children to its registration list.
Program Coordinator Carla Hutto said the program is free for all children who live in the county.
In the program, all registered children receive a free hard cover book each month through the mail.
"The books are age appropriate and are really very nice," Hutto said.
The program is available to all children in the county from birth to age 5 years regardless of income.
"This program is to help foster the love of reading in all children," Hutto said.
The program is funded locally by donations from businesses and organizations as well as private individuals.
The businesses and organizations who support it include: Resource, Conservation, and Development Authority, Russellville Lion's Club, Valley State Bank, Tiffin's Supply Company and Lanny Norris State Farm.
"I'd like to thank everyone who supports this program," Hutto said.
"We also have private individuals who support the program, but there are so many it would be impossible to list them all."
Hutto said that while the program does have support from the community, they are always looking for new sponsorships and donations.
"Without these sponsors and donations, the program would not be possible, so we encourage all businesses and organizations to help sponsor it," Hutto said.
