Just in the nick of time to aid families in need this holiday season, the Russellville Civitan Club will sponsor a canned food drive to benefit Russellville's Faith Mission Outreach.
"We wanted to give back to our community and we felt this would be a good cause for our club," Civitan Club President Joey Rushing said.
The club will be collecting the food for several weeks before taking the cans to the Mission. Rushing is encouraging the public to get involved with the drive as the club has secured three drop off locations.
"Jonathon's Steakhouse, Five Star Pizza and Helen K Furniture have all agreed to help us collect the canned goods," Rushing said.
Any kind of non-perishable food item is welcomed, and everyone is encouraged to bring as many food items as possible.
"We want to help as many people as possible, so we are asking help from the public to help us with this project," Rushing said.
The Faith Mission Outreach feeds hundreds of families per week. Statistics show that 25 percent of households in Franklin County are below the poverty level.
The Mission helps families in need with no regard to race, sex, or religion. For more information on the Civitan Food Drive or the Faith Mission Outreach, contact any Civitan member or call the Mission at 331-GIVE.
